What's the answer to Apple's compactly thin MacBook? Unveil an even thinner laptop, which is what HP has done. Ladies and gentleman, HP brings you the 13.3 inch Spectre, taking the throne as being the worlds thinnest laptop (or call it a notebook for the technically suave).
The HP Spectre have a lot going on here with its design, it's super thin measuring in at 10.4mm, weighing just 2.45 Ibs, making it the slimmest laptop of the entire HP product line. Impressively, the Spectre boast a beautifully compact aluminum and carbon fiber structure with a "Ash Silver" color scheme, HP states it's inspiration stems from "tapered copper" shade that's used in jewelry.
Other than the Spectre being much slimmer, it is comparable to MacBook in design, but where the Spectre differ from its rival is hardware. Apple pretty much sacrificed hardware for design, while HP on the other hand didn't.
Unlike Apple which used a much lower powered Intel Core M processor, the Spectre base model with its thin build manages to use highend hardware, sporting the latest sixth-gen (code name Skylake) Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 512 GB PCIe solid state drive.
Adding a processor like this of its power magnitude to such thin laptop, the engineers at HP had to work their magic to implement and circumvent increase heat output of its Intel Core processors by instituting heat pipes and two fans to draw heat away from the CPU out through rear portion of the laptop. The battery within the Spectre is said to grant users 9.5 hours of power, but to deal with increase burden of battery life from power exhausting processor, the engineers at HP once again had to work their magic by going with a much larger, hybrid battery that's splits into two thinner pieces.
Probably biggest eye raising questions that Apple consumers were asking is how can high profile laptop such as the MacBook have just one USB port, one USB Type-C port to be exact. With the HP Spectre, it has you covered sporting three USB Type-C ports, with two ports supporting the latest Thunderbolt 3 technology.
The Spectre base model features a 13.3 inch IPS display, with a pixel count that comes in at 1929 X 1080, it's display is made of Gorilla Glass, giving it added last ability and toughness.
Aside from th design, probably the one feature that stands out the most with me is HP newest logo which overall gives the laptop a Sci-Fi futristic appeal. Simplistic design that has just four dashes assembled together to spell out the company branded name.
