So what's there to know about the recently newly revealed Samsung Galaxy Note 7, well it definitely retains its usual behemoth size smart phone which is not a bad thing if you know the general history of this device. The history, to keep it brief, what was once a brunt of "Big Smartphone" jokes have now become standard, me personally I think I'll never go back to a small size smartphone, once you go big, there's no going back to small. Seriously though, getting back to the subject at hand, there is some things you really need to know about the new and improve the latest Note series smartphone from Samsung.
About The Design
The design of the smartphone is scary identical to the Galaxy s7 Edge, in fact you can call it the blown up version. The Note 7, though a true phablet in a sense aesthetically has a beautiful design. Currently the Galaxy s7 Edge, I can attest to the Note 7 design being sleekly spot on . Probably the difference between the Note 7 and Galaxy s7 Edge, aside from the size I would say the smartphone itself curved screen is much sharper and less sloping along the edges, and the smartphone is appears to be slightly thinner than the s7 Edge.
Like the s7 Edge, the Galaxy Note 7 display extends right along its side, with a ultra thin bezel, in my opinion this type of design should be standard in all smartphones.
About the Hardware
When it comes to the nuts and bolts of the Note 7 ( I'm referring to its hardware) once again its identical to the Galaxy S Series smartphones, its rocking a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Mongoose + quad-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Mali-T880 MP12 GPU, Exynos 8890 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For added storage it has a expandable micro SD slot which you can add up to 256GB storage.
About the Display
The display type is a Super AMOLED 5.7 inch capactive touchscreen that's packing an amazing 2560 x 1440 pixels, adding up to the display being gorgeously sharp and crispy. It to has the Edge interface making it easy for potential users to access contacts and apps.
About the Camera
When it comes to camera Samsung almost always incorporate great image capturing technology onto their mobile devices. So its no surprise here to see the Note 7 with a 12MP camera with a nice wide f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.5" sensor that has a 1.4 micron pixels with a phase detection autofocus. It also have a Dual Pixel focusing technology which aids the autofocus. The camera on this smartphone is on par with the Galaxy s7 Edge and iPhone 6s Plus, making it to one of the best on the market.
Wait there's a Iris Scanner?
Samsung has added an extra layer of security right along with their fingerprint reader. They now have an Iris reader, just point your recognizable eyes Iris to the smartphone and unlock process will take place. In order for the smartphone to scan and unlock the device, the user must hold the smartphone 10 inches away from the face. Samsung states the unlocking process take approximately one second.
The Updated S Pen
Not much has changed with the Note 7 S Pen from last years model except this year its water resistant , much like the smartphone itself. The water resistant stylus pen enables users to actually jot down text on the Note 7's screen all while being underwater. Samsung dropped the size of the pen to 0.7mm, which identically is the same size as a ball point pen, this should give users a more natural feel.
Now you might think that the only thing you can do with the S Pen is just write and sketch, but with the new Note 7 pen has increase functionality and has a new set of commands at your finger tips. You can now magnify anything that appears on the screen up to 3X and even translate each word on the screen to any language.
For me probably absolute best feature on the S pen is potential users will have the ability select any image on the display with the pen, record it and turn it to a GIF. You can further customize the GIFs by simply tweaking the looped imaged or you can draw right directly over it.
And yes its resistance to Water
Thanks in part to the Note 7 having a IP68 water resistance rating, this means you to can submerge the entire device in water and not worry about it being damaged.
So there you have it, a little bit of information on the Galaxy Note 7 coming from yours truly. I must say, what we have here is an incredible piece of handheld technology that'll probably make it one of the best smartphone to grace the market to date. Aug 19th is the set market release and the pricing of this smartphone will go for $845.
