Since the iMac Pro made its debut at WWDC back in June, representatives from Apple gave a tentative release date which was suppose to be in December. At last the wait is now over, the new iMac Pro is now available for consumer purchase, with orders expected to arrive on December 27th. Price will start out at $4999 which is the standard edition, the heavily spec'd out version will max out at $13,199.
During the WWDC event, Apple boasted that the iMac Pro is the "most powerful Mac ever", that's big talk from the tech titan but the implemented hardware does justify that claim.
The iMac Pro will come in one color variant, Space Gray with matching Space Gray peripherals ( keyboard and mouse) a first for any iMac line. Features included on the iMac Pro are four Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3 ports, a 1080p FaceTime camera, and will support two 5K displays, or 4K UHD displays.
The iMac Pro is is stacked with some serious hardware, starting with its base model having a 8-core 3.2GHz Intel Xeon processor, a 4.2GHz Turbo Boost, a Radeon Pro Vega 56 or Vega 64 graphics card, 32GB of RAM configurable up to 128GB of RAM. On the storage front, the iMac Pro have 1TB SSD that's configurable up to 2TB and 4TB.
The iMac Pro is a powerful piece of machinery who's target consumer is the professional that's in the field of engineering, film making, photography and science. This is the type of machine that can handle any resource hungry applications thrown at it.
Though price of the iMac Pro is rather steep no doubt, but with all the top notch hardware under the hood you'll definitely getting a peak performing computer, money worth spent.
