So What's Really Inside The Xbox Series X?
Let the console war begin as both Sony and Microsoft have recently unveiled their next-generation consoles, scheduled to be released in 2020. Now, I've read and seen images of what Sony has to offer with their PS5. And I must say, I'm quite impressed. But equally impressive is the Xbox Series X. Aside from the hardware, which will get to in this post. The design is fascinating, which looks very similar to a gaming desktop. Rather odd since gaming consoles often have a very compact build.
Let’s turn our full attention to the Xbox Series X hardware. What's really inside Microsoft's next-generation console?
Processing Power
It seems like both consoles are going with AMD processors. The Xbox Series X will have a custom AMD Zen 2 chipset, accompanied by a custom GPU constructed on the AMD RDNA architecture. It will have the latest ray-tracing technology, which will give games realistic visuals. The CPU is said to have 8-cores, with a processor clock speed measuring at 3.5GHz, 12 TFLOPS of computing power.
About The RAM
The RAM is pretty interesting. There will be in total 16 GB, 13 GB for the games, 3 GB for the entire operating system. Facts, most high-end gaming PC’s and computers as a whole do have 16 GB of RAM by default.
The Storage
From all my gathered sources, there was no mention of storage capacity. But in comparison to the Xbox One X specs, it's a clear indication that the Xbox Series X will likely have 1 TB capacity. Now the type of storage that is going to be used is a non-volatile memory express, better known as NVMe SSD. Which, by the way, will add more speed to the entire system because NVMe drives are superbly fast.
I want to add….
Before concluding this post, I want to add the specs revealed are all pending. We'll know full details once the console is unveiled, which should take place in mid-2020.
