The MacBook Pro Update Will Come Refreshed With a New Keyboard and Updated CPUs
With Huawei dominating the news this week, Apple has quietly gone about its business by implementing updates to their MacBook Pro, expanding CPU options for both the 13-inch and 15-inch models. This is the second time in almost a year Apple has instituted updates to their flagship laptops. The 15-inch MacBook will advance to an Intel 9th generation 8-core processor the first ever in its product line. While the 13-inch model won't see a significant bump up in its processor like it's 15-inch mate but still will see modest upgrades. The new changes to the MacBook Pro will not impact the current price point.
The even bigger news, along with internal hardware Apple also updated its much-maligned butterfly keyboard. As you well know the butterfly keyboard has come under heavy scrunity from users who complained about the laptops malfunctioning key switches. Apple did make an effort to fix the issue when they reintroduced the butterfly keyboard model in 2018, but users continued to report significant problems to the devices keyboard.
So now we have the new fourth-generation butterfly keyboard where once again Apple addresses the malfunctioning issues to the keyboard without specifically mentioning what improvements were made. But according to the Wall Street Journal, Apple made changes to material in the keyboard mechanism, claiming it should thwart against the double key-press issue.
Interestingly, Apple implemented a repair program for their new MacBook Pro, which is a bit confusing being that the company is claiming that there should be no issue to the butterfly keyboard. Nonetheless, time will tell whether or not the problem will arise again.
