In the last post, I covered Kingston's unveiling of their new PC gaming peripherals. But what you need to know is the company is well known for producing some of the best low-end hard drives and memory in the market. So it should not come as a shock Kingston storage new drives would make a big showing at CES 2021 by unveiling their upcoming NVMe, including their first PCIe NVMe Gen 4.0 SSD and new external USB 3.2 SSD.
Kingston Louis Kaneshiro, who's the Director of SSD product engineering, delivered the following press release:
"Now that CES is moving online, we have a greater opportunity to connect with new and existing tech communities around the world. CES is the best time to share what's next from Kingston, and we are very excited to launch our first Gen 4.0 NVMe SSDs and an external drive this year. When it comes to NVMe, we will have all customer segments covered from consumer to prosumers to data centers."
Yes, the code-name for Kingston's upcoming high-performance Gen 4.0 drive is Ghost Tree. Speed and storage capacity are the main selling points, as the storage drive has a fast read/write speed measuring up to 7000 MB/S, capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB.
Kingston's current low-end drives are the latest Gen 3.0 x4 SSDs from its NV series, perfect for first-time users of NVMe with capacities up to 2TB.
Kingston also stated that it would launch an all-new USB 3.2 Gen 2 x2 external drive dubbed the XS2000, storage capacities range from 500GB to 1TB. The external SSD interface is a USB Type - C with a super-fast data transfer up to 2000MB/s.
Finally, we have Kingston's Data Center 1500M, an updated version from DC 1000M, adding support for Multi-name spaces. The new U.2 NVMe SSD will support a wide range of data workloads, including cloud computing, web hosting, and virtual infrastructures.
