My Top Three Gadgets From CES 2022
CES has come up is gone, and despite fewer than average attendees due to the Covid-19, the trade show pressed on and displayed some interesting tech, with companies such as Asus and Razer host of others making a big splash at the event with their products. Some of these gadgets or devices won't have a set launch date and will likely not hit the market for several years. Still, there were some impressive tech gadgets at CES 2022.
Below I listed my top three.
Samsung Odyssey Ark
Samsung 55-inch Odyssey Ark gaming monitor was the most praised device at CES. This behemoth gaming monitor was not a rendered concept; it was showcased live at the trade show. So what's got many such as myself so stoked at what Samsung has to offer? Aside from the curved design, this 4K display has a mechanism that allows it to tilt vertically up to 90-degrees, and run games at a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Asus Zen 14x Space Edition
As stated in the intro, Asus was one of the few companies that garnered much attention with their products, particularly their new line of laptops. Piquing my interest is the Zenbook 14 X Space Edition. As the name implies, Asus commemorates when they sent a computer (notebook) to Mir space station. The Zen 14 X's main attraction is the design. It has a unique compact metallic finish, space gray color scheme. Exclusive with this particular laptop is a small 3.5-inch " Zen " black and white OLED display placed on the outer lid that displays the time, personalized badge for ID, and much more.
Aside from the design, the main selling point is the 2880 x 1800 OLED display that measures 14-inches. In addition, the laptop is a potential workhorse. It's rocking the latest generation processor from Intel, the Core i9-12900, with 32GB of RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
BMW iX Flow
It's safe to say EV cars today are rolling tech gadgets. But the technology used on the BMW iX Flow is out of this world. With just one push of a button, the color on the car can change; using color swapping e-ink paint, the same technology is used in e-readers such as the Kindle. The vehicle is covered in a thin layer of body wrap with built-in electrophoretic technology. The entire car is covered in millions of microcapsules that contains negative charge for white pigments and positive charge for black pigments. Settings are changed on an electrical field, thus chosen pigments rise to the top surface.
The BMW iX Flow is a different concept car like no other I've ever seen. Unfortunately, we likely won't see this car hit the market. Gimmicky? Yes. But I'm sure several auto manufacturers will adopt this technology.
