CES Reveals: Let's Talk About Samsung 55-inch Display, The Odyssey Ark
At CES 2022, Samsung has unveiled the next-generation curved 55-inch 16.9 gaming monitor, the Odyssey Ark, the largest of its kind. The monitor's immense size and sleek design are ideal for gaming enthusiasts and productivity applications. However, the curvature design that wraps around the entire field of view stands out the most, giving users access to what's ahead and beside you while gaming.
Design aside, users can adjust the monitor from horizontal to vertical at 90 degrees. The gaming display's multi-view feature uses an adaptable screen size to view movies, play games, and productivity applications. The specialized stand that supports the monitor is the primary reason for its full support of tilting and pivoting.
A quote from Samsung; "Multiview options allow users to adjust the Odyssey Ark exactly how they want it with totally adjustable screen size to fit the game or program without compromising its 4K display and bright, colorful images." So the subtle adjustments will not distort any images.
Samsung announced another monitor at CES, the new 32-inch Odyssey Neo G8. A smaller variant to Neo G9, but less expensive. In case you're wondering, the Neo G9 is a much bigger monitor, at 49-inches, priced at a whopping $2,500. Like the Neo G9, the G8 similarly will have a 1000R curve and 1ms response time. However, unlike the Neo G9, the G8 has a higher resolution. Samsung states that the Neo G8 is the world's first display to feature 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate.
As expected with most high-end gaming displays, the Neo G8 will support both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD's FreeSync Premium, while the nits brightness will peak at 2000.
Currently, Samsung has not provided the specifics on the price or market availability for the Odyssey Ark or Neo G8 gaming monitors. But according to reports, both monitors will go on sale in mid-2022.
