Here's my take on my three week old (2022) iPad Air
I recently purchased an iPad Air, a badly needed upgrade from the now 8-year-old iPad Mini. Although the archaic tablet has served its purpose, it's about time I ditch the old ( very old) and bring in the new.
Judging by the tablet's performance, I'd say it's money worth spending ($549 Amazon). So even though there have been countless reviews on the iPad Air since its inception to the market, the tech enthusiast in me feels compelled to give you my initial thoughts on the tablet.
From a consumer perspective, here’s my take on the iPad Air, one of the best gadgets I've purchased in 2022.
My take on Design
As with most Apple devices, the iPad Air has an elegant minimalist design that resembles the iPad Pro. However, the Air is slightly shorter in length, measuring 10.9 inches. Aside from the hardware we'll cover later; the primary selling point is how light the tablet feels in the hands. In addition, the iPad Air is surprisingly less cumbersome in the backpack.
The iPad Air has an array of exciting color schemes that include starlight white, blue, pink, and, my purchasing choice, purple. In addition to having a brushed metallic finish, it is elegant to design.
My take on hardware
The other primary selling point of the 2022 iPad Air is hardware, in particular, the M1 processor, which, by the way, is the second tablet embedded with a powerful chip, the other being the 2021 iPad Pro. As a result of having the. M1 chip, multitasking is seamlessly smooth. I did not experience any performance lag; apps loads expeditiously. It's rather refreshing to use a mobile device, particularly a tablet with powerful hardware beneficial to the user. Then again, welcome to 2022, where mobile devices like smartphones and tablets rival the PC in overall performance—all due in part to advanced mobile hardware.
My take on the display
iPad Air's stunning Liquid Retina display features a max 2350 x 1650 resolution, nits topping out at 484. The colors on display are vibrant while having a very sharp picture quality. Viewing videos on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Youtube is awe-inspiring.
The iPad Air is a powerful, multifaceted mobile device. But if I had one minor gripe about this tablet, it's Apple's expensive peripherals. The Magic keyboard alone goes for $349, big ouch. Luckily, there are cheaper alternatives from vendors such as Wal-Mart and Amazon. All in all, the iPad Pro is the best tablet in the market. It has a more powerful processor and a better display. But the iPad Air is on par regarding overall performance, and importantly, prices are more affordable.
