Confirmed by Apple, all future iPhones will switch to USB C support

Once the European Union passed a law mandating all devices support USB-C, you knew it was a matter of time before Apple switched from a Lightning-powered iPhone to USB-C.

During an interview with Joanna Stern at the Wall Street Journal Tech Live conference, Greg Joswiak, the Apple senior vice president of global marketing, said, according to this quote, "Obviously, we'll have to comply; we have no choice" When asked about the future of USB-C on the iPhone.

Apple has added USB-C ports to its Mac computers and iPads. According to rumors, Apple has been planning to add USB-C ports iPhone. So it should not come as no surprise to anyone that the company out of Cupertino would make this move.

For ten years, the Lightning connector has been the main staple for many devices, including the iPhone, iPads, and Airpods. In addition, Apple licensed its 30-pin connector to many manufacturers of speakers, camera add-ons, and third-party chargers. So it's no wonder Apple isn't happy about moving to the universal connector.

It makes you wonder, if not for the decision made by the EU, if any future iPhones would have USB-C ports. Either way, we could see the USB-C on the iPhone as early as next year.
