The News: Sonos Ray will be the budget option soundbar from Sonos priced at $250
Sonos will soon reveal their next upcoming soundbar; the brand marketing name will be known as the Sonos Ray. This information comes by way of internal documents and insiders familiar with the company's plans. The cost is expected to be $249 and, according to reports, will go on sale in a couple of weeks. The Ray will be Sonos's cheapest soundbar and presented as an entry-level option to the more expensive Beam and Arc.
Several features are excluded to keep the price down, such as built-in mics, Dolby Atmos, and HDMI connectivity. In addition, Ray will have fewer speakers compared to the company's other speakers on their product line. However, consumers who already have Sonos Arc or Beam can use the Ray as a surround speaker setup.
By itself, the Ray will support Dolby Digital audio and expandable up to 5.1 audio setups paired with other Sonos speakers. Connect it to your TV by way of the optical cable. There are no integrated mics for voice controls. Sonos is compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Nest speakers, so users have the option to use either voice assistant of their choice.
Patrick Spence, the CEO of Sonos, has stated that the company will introduce two new products each calendar year. In addition, other devices coming up in the product line will be released in 2022, including a smaller, affordable sub-woofer and Sonos rumored wireless headphones.
At this time, Sonos has not announced the Ray. However, we should expect further details on the device and launch date in the coming weeks.
