We have a first from Sony, a HDR gaming monitor

We all know Sony has always been a significant player in the TV market; now, the company is venturing into the gaming space with an all-new InZone gaming monitor. Although Sony will release two different versions this Summer and Winter, the InZone M9 and InZone M3, this will be Sony's first gaming monitor designed explicitly for the PC and PlayStation games.

Here's what you need to know about pricing and features. Starting at $900, the InZone M9 is the 27-inch flagship option, rivaling gaming displays such as the Samsung Odyssey G7 and LG Ultragear 27. The features are DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, USB-C connectivity, 4K resolution IPS panel, 144Hz refresh rate, and a 1ms response time.

In addition, there is full support for variable refresh rates, G-Sync compatibility, and full-array local dimming. You also have a KVM switch and certification for VESA DisplaysHDR 600.

For me, the standout features on the InZone M9 are the FPS game picture mode which can optimize brightness and contrast, a black equalizer, a cross-hair option, and a frame rate counter.

Regarding the design, the InZone gaming monitor is straightforward; it is not as appealing as Samsung's Odyssey G7. However, the white color scheme matches the PlayStation 5. There's even a joystick control on the monitor that you will use to navigate menus and you have an app that controls the image settings. The stand that holds the monitor has full tilt and pivot controls on the small-angle monitor arm, which protrudes outward. There are dual 2-watt speakers on the monitor and an illuminating LED ring at the rear.

Sony will release the InZone M9 first this Summer; the budget option InZone M3's expected release will be this upcoming winter, it has the same dimensions as the higher-spec option with a lower Full HD resolution without the full-array feature. The InZone M3 set price point will be $529.
