Samsung's Odyssey Neo G8 4K 240Hz monitor finally has price tag
I covered Samsung's reveal of the Odyssey Neo G8 monitor a while back. It drew a lot of attention for being the first curved display with an ultra-fast 240Hz refresh rate and mini LED technology. Today, Samsung has attached a price tag to this gaming monitor, which is now up for sale.
I might add that a gaming monitor, the world's first of its kind, with impressive specs, comes with an expensive price tag. So if you're even considering buying the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 4K, you'll need a boat load of cash. The going price is $1499.99, or if you reserve one last month, Samsung offers a $50 off the retail price. However, this is still an expensive display even with the bonus discount.
Many would agree the features in the Odyssey Neo G8 4K gaming monitor justifies the price. You're getting a 32-inch curved display built around a vertical Alignment panel. In addition, it's rocking an excellent 3840 x 2160 resolution, and a key selling point is a 240Hz refresh rate. The display also boasts a swift 1m response time ( gray to gray), a massive color gamut ( up to 95 percent of DCI-P3 color space), and an ultra-bright 2,000 nits peak brightness for any HDR content, in addition to having a 1,000,000:1 static contrast.
Mini LED technology for its backlighting is why this monitor is so bright. Mini LEDs are much smaller than traditional LEDs. This feature may be why many consumers will purchase Odyssey Neo G8 despite the insanely high price point.
The Odyssey Neo G8 undoubtedly has a very impressive spec sheet and potentially should yield optimal performance. But the inflated price tag may thwart some consumers from even purchasing this gaming monitor.
