Just Wow: PCie Gen5 power adapter for Zotac RTX 4090 services only 30 connection cycles

If you plan on purchasing a Zotac graphics card and a power cable adapter, the company noted on their website that the 16-pin PCIe Gen5 (4x8-pin to VHPWR) power is limited to up to 30 service life connects/ disconnects.

According to reports via Nvidia, the issue occurred while testing various prototype power cables and supplies. Members of PCI-SIG conducted these tests. According to their observation, the cables were prone to hot spots and melting due to excess connection cycles and bending.

The posted image of the PCI-SIG slides clearly shows the thermal variance issues with the adapter, reported on Aug 25th of this year.

Before buying the Zotac RTX 4090, follow the company's recommendations for preventable damage to cable due to bending. In addition, you should monitor the status of Zotac's cable connectors.
