Trending New Gadgets this past Week: Steam Deck new OLED console and The Humane AI Pin
Unveiled new tech gadgets often will only garner my immediate attention or pique my interest if the gadget will fuel my excitement. The Steam Deck and Humane AI Pin this past week was the primary story in several publications and the topic of conversation among tech pundits. Both gadgets have certainly grabbed my attention.
Valve's newly unveiled handheld gaming console, the Steam Deck OLED, has a larger screen, improved battery life, and faster WiFi. The selling point is not the OLED screen but the bigger battery, which offers 30-50% more battery life. The Steam Deck starts at $549.00, launching on Nov 16.
The Humane AI Pin doesn't strike me as the eventual replacement to the smartphone. Nonetheless, the wearable AI device is something I don't mind trying out. The AI Pin is a virtual assistant powered by technologies from Microsoft and OpenAI. Humane’s AI Pin assistant can fit in the palm of your hand. You can clip the device on any article of clothing or put it in your pocket. The AI Pin can take photos and send text messages using a laser, projecting a visual interface onto the user's hand. The price of AI Pin may thwart many from purchasing this device, which costs $699. Do you know what’s missing with this device? Bluetooth connectivity. Ah, how about that for a selling point?
