We have another Noctau and Asus GPU cooler collaboration

Once again, we have a collaborative effort from Noctau and Asus that entails a custom cooling fan on a graphic card, the GeForce RTX 4080. Both companies are claiming a considerable reduction in noise while maintaining stable temperatures. This follows a third collaboration that released the Noctua Edition GeForce RTX 3080 and 3070 graphic cards.

This collaboration was expected as Asus and Noctau announced their upcoming projects in January at CES 2023. Now we officially have details on the latest cooling fans. They stated that its a "redesigned from the ground up to achieve maximum thermal efficiency."

According to Noctua, there is an improvement in the thermals and acoustics of the stock three-fan cooler used by Asus on the original TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card, partly due to additional five heat pipes instead of two and switching to a " more elaborate, tailored heatsink," according to the company, benefiting the Vapor chamber cooling.

A quote from the execs; "By adding a vapor chamber and using its superior heat-spreading capabilities to transfer the thermal energy to five instead of two 8mm heat pipes ( plus three instead of six 6mm ones), the Noctau Edition provides significantly better cooling performance than original TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080, "From Noctau; "This enables it to operate with slower fans speed, combine with the class-leading efficiency of the NF-A12x25 fans, to run quieter than any other air-cooled card in its class”.

The fan can operate at medium speeds; Noctau claims there are much cooler temperature drops to 23.2 decibels compared to 40 decibels of the stock TUF Gaming cooler, functioning fraction hotter at +0.8C.

ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctau edition features a fan control ( Asus GPU Tweak III utility) setup that allows users to switch the fans off when the GPU temperature goes below 50 degrees Celsius.

The Asus RTX 4080 Noctau OC Edition is available on the Asus website and retails for $1,649.99. But as of now, they’re sold out.
