Let's talk about it Pocketable RTX 3050 GPU Let's talk about it
ADLink just garnered my attention with their Pocket Ai portable GPU graphics solution. This is a scaled-down GeForce RTX 305 mobile hardware scaled down to the size of a human hand. In addition, the GPU uses Thunderbolt 3 connectivity support bringing graphic support to laptops and desktops.
Inside the GPU are an enterprise-class RTX A500 GPU, identical to RTX 3050 found in laptops. The full specification goes as follows; it has Nvidia's own GA107 GPU die, having 2,048 Cuda cores, 64 Tensor DCores, 16 RT cores, with 4GB GDDR5 memory, 64-bit wide interface, and 25W TGP. Interestingly, the RTX GPU has a maximum performance rating of only 6.54 TFLOPs.
The RTX 3050 is probably the last GPU you'll use to achieve high-level gaming, as it's not fast compared to other GPUs in the RTX Series. However, the portable GPU can unlock most of NVIDIA's current GeForce RTX product line features. The GPU pocket does have useful features for gamers and streamers, such as voice cancellation and video-enhancement features (RTX Broadcast). In addition, the RTX AA500 has an NVENC encoder that will produce high-quality video streaming.
The pocket GPU would undoubtedly come in handy for gamers using underpowered systems. But don't expect similar results to high-end GPUs since it uses just 25W TDP.
The exact measurements of the Pocket AI are 106mm x 72mm x 25mm, weighing just 250 grams. Users will need Thunderbolt 3.0 connectivity and an additional USB Type-C as the power source to achieve a functional graphics device. There is no current price, but a pre-order date has been set for April 2023. Shipping will begin in June.
