According to the rumors, there maybe a PS5 Slim
For the past two months, I've been reading about rumors suggesting Sony will launch a PS5 Slim with a removable disc drive. Well, we may have a new PS5 model. There are leaked images of a slimmer and shorter PS5 variant that appears to have a removable drive.
The leaked image above of the PS5 Slim was posted on a Chinese forum earlier this week, and there is even a leaked video providing a more detailed look at the rumored gaming console. The source of the video is from Better Way Electronics, an Australian PlayStation repair specialist, displaying a plastic case of what looks like the PS5. Notice the bulge of what appears to be the disc drive that's curved in the middle, in addition to having spare space for vents, two slits on the side of the case, and dual USB-C on the front.
Last year alone, there were reports Sony was going to launch a detachable disc drive PS5 which was supposed to take place in September 2023, next month. In addition, there is also a conversation floating all over the Internet, entailing Sony to release a PlayStation 5 Pro (codenamed Trinity) with a significant GPU upgrade. Set to be launched sometime in 2024.
No matter what variant PS5 Sony releases, we can't ignore that the PS5 is a resounding success; it just recently surpassed 40 million units sold. Additional sales will come when Sony releases the upcoming limited edition PlayStation 5 Spider-Man 2 bundle, which I'm excited about, and is available for preorder.
