What you need to know about the Nividia's new RTX 4070 Series Super graphics card
Rumors of upcoming hardware have a way of coming to fruition; that is always the case in the realm of technology. With that said, it wasn't too long ago we published rumored reports Nvidia will be unveiling a series of RTX 40 graphics cards at CES 2024 that fall under the branded name "Super." Well, what was once widespread rumors has come into reality; at CES 2024, Nvidia unveiled numerous AI technologies, and the main attraction at the event was three refreshed new variants of GeForce RTX 40 series "Super" GPUs, which include the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super.
Before going in-depth on RTX 4070 SUPER specs and features, it's worth noting that the new Super Series graphics cards will be powered by Ada AD104 Lovelace GPU architecture identical to the larger AD103 and AD102. The "Super" series will feature Nivida's own DLSS 2/3/3.5 technology. Other features include Nvidia reflex latency reduction, GSync, Studio Drivers, and GeForce Experience, to name a few.
We're explicitly profiling the RTX 4070 SUPER Series graphics card because it's the first of the three Super RTX 40 series graphics cards to be launched, which is set to take place on January 17th, two days from now at the time of this writing. The RTX 4070 “Super” GPU specification goes as follows: it will have 7168 shade units, 224 tensor cores, and 224 texture mapping units. When it comes to VRAM, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER has 12GB GDDR6X memory connected to a 192-bit interface—the GPU operating frequency measures 1980 MHz, boosting up to 2475MHz, with memory frequency operating at 1313MHz. The graphics card features 7,168 CUDA cores, 20% more than the RTX 4070, which has only 5,888 CUDA cores in comparison, and faster than the RTX 3090 while using a fraction of power.
Speaking of power, the RTX 4070 SUPER will consume 200W TDP, needing 1x 16-pin power connectors. It's recommended that you should use a 550W power supply. However, I recommend purchasing a 750W power supply or higher for this particular graphics card.
The RTX 4070 Super is priced at $599 and, as stated earlier, is set to launch on January 17TH, 2024.
