InUnion Magic keyboard, the functional alternative: The Review

InUnion Magic keyboard, the functional alternative: The Review

InUion is a less expensive alternative to Apple's Magic keyboard for the iPad. So, is this a knockoff variant? Or is it a functional alternative? In this latest review, we'll cover this keyboard in-depth and answer the question.

The Design and functional Magnetic Cantilever

The InUnion magic keyboard is a magnetic-floating cantilever design that adjusts to a 130-degree tilt angle, but tilting the iPad can be a bit cumbersome and less seamless. You have to apply some force to adapt the iPad for comfort. As advertised, the case has a solid magnetic suction that secures the iPad; even with sudden forceful jerks and shaking, the tablet stays in place.

My particular keyboard has a matte space gray color scheme and a rubberized texture that offers extra protection for the iPad. Unfortunately, the materials used on the Magic Keyboard are prone to fingerprint smudges that are hard to come off. Overall, the design of the InUnion Magic Keyboard is decent.

The Backlit keyboard is Operational

The backlit keyboard is functional, with three brightness levels, making it easy to type in areas with low light conditions. It is worth noting that your iPad must be running the latest version of iPadOS 17, or else you won't be able to access these features.

Functional Multi-Touch Trackpad

Once you get used to the keyboard, you'll find the Magic Keyboard trackpad responsive and smooth. Navigation, scrolling, pinch, and zooming gestures are fluid. Surprisingly, considering this is an Apple alternative device, I expected to have a sluggish performance regarding motion gestures.

Low energy consumption

According to the specifications, the InUnion Magic Keyboard offers up to 3 months of standby time, equating to 100 hours of continued usage on a single charge. In my real-world test, after several hours of writing and publishing articles, I didn't notice any drop in performance due to power depletion. To sum up, InUnion Magic Keyboard battery power does hold charge and should be a significant selling point with consumers.

If you want a cheaper Apple alternative to the Magic Keyboard, then go with the InUnion (Magic Keyboard). It stands out as a versatile and high-performance accessory for any iPad user. The magnetic floating cantilever design provides a comfortable 130-tilt angle, transforming your iPad into a functional laptop. The built-in smart trackpad enhances productivity with multi-touch gestures, while the backlit keys ensure typing comfort in any lighting condition. Regarding the design, the (InUnion) Magic Keyboard's slim and lightweight profile offers exceptional protection to your iPad without compromising on style and functionality.

The InUnion Magic Keyboard retail price is $71.99 on Amazon.
