ASRock Unveils a passive cooling Radeon RX 7900 GPU’s

Crafting a low-decibel PC is an art—well, sort of; you need components made of low-decibel materials. ASRock is contributing to this cause, having just unveiled a product line of passive-cooled Radeon RX 7900 Series graphics cards. Here’s what you need to know.

ASRock's flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX and the Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU will feature passive cooling. The cooling fans usually found on most GPUs have been replaced with an aluminum-finned heatsink. This design choice aims to provide effective cooling without needing traditional fans. ASRock's approach reflects a shift towards innovative cooling solutions in the GPU market. The focus on passive cooling aligns with the company's commitment to efficient, high-performance graphics cards.

Unlike most aftermarket graphic cards, ASRock's website lacks written details about the passive cooling solution. The passive cooler on ASRock's Radeon cards includes a vapor chamber heatsink and efficient aluminum cooling fins with a v-shaped cutting. This absence of written specifications is unusual, given the prevalence of such information for other graphic cards. The passive cooling solution's components are known but not documented on ASRock's website. It is interesting to note the disparity in available information for ASRock's passive cooling solution compared to other graphic cards.

Both cards have a metal backplate and a single 12V-2x6 power connector. ASRock maintains the reference clock frequency specs for both cards. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX Passive has a 2,270MHz game clock frequency and up to a 2,500MHz boost clock, while the Radeon RX 7900 XT Passive runs at a 2,025MHz game clock frequency and up to a 2,385MHz boost clock frequency.

ASRock has not yet disclosed pricing or availability for its products. The Radeon XTX Phantom Gaming card is $908.99 on Amazon, while the Radeon RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming is $699.99 on the same platform.
