Innovation at its finest: Let's talk about Lenovo expandable rollable display laptop

Suppose I told you there’s a laptop with an expandable display. You probably think such a device only exists in movies or a fictional novel, but this is not a fabricated tale— this laptop exists. Lenovo is set to release a Think Book Plus Gen 6 Roll-able laptop in the second quarter of 2025.

Here's how this rollable laptop will function.

With just one push of a dedicated button, the 14-inch display expands to 16.7 inches in seconds, adding nearly 50 percent display space in a portable compact form factor. Lenovo states that the measurements are diagonal, and the 50 percent claim calculates the total screen real estate.

The roll-able feature will allow users to adapt to various screen sizes based on assigned tasks, including video editing, content creation, coding, and stock analysis. Interestingly, the laptop maintains its slim design, measuring 19.9mm ( 0.7834646 inches ) and weighing just 2.2 pounds.

Lenovo's laptops feature a unique ergonomic design that promotes better posture and reduces strain during prolonged use. This design can benefit users, especially when working for extended periods. The rollable screen allows users to create a second valuable display for sharing meetings. This capability eliminates the need for an additional external monitor, making the workspace more efficient. Overall, the laptop's design and features aim to enhance the user’s productivity and comfort while working.

The features of the ThinkPad Plus Gen Rollable laptop display are pretty impressive and expected for a high-end device. It boasts a 120 Hz refresh and 400 nits brightness, providing vibrant visuals. In addition, the display offers 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space for accurate color representation. As of now, Lenovo has not disclosed the display resolution.

The ThinkPad Plus Gen Rollable boasts impressive hardware specifications, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor from the Lunar Lake platform and Intel's Arc Xe2 graphics, with up to 32GB of LDDR5X-8533 memory and up to 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The laptop also includes a 5MP front-facing camera, providing clear video quality for meetings and calls. Additionally, it is equipped with an infrared camera that enhances security features through facial recognition. Overall, the robust hardware specifications position the ThinkPad Plus Gen Rollable as a powerful and versatile device for users.

According to Lenovo, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable will be available in June 2025, starting at $3,499.
