In Other News: iOS 18.3 Update will enable Apple Intelligence By Default

Apple AI, now called Apple Intelligence, will be enabled by default in the upcoming update for iOS 18.3, iPad OS 18.3, and macOS 15.3. This change is highlighted in the release candidate notes shared on the 9to5Mac website. The AI-powered feature is designed to assist first-time Apple device users and those upgrading their operating system. By activating this feature by default, Apple aims to enhance the user experience for newcomers to its devices. This update reflects Apple's commitment to integrating AI technology into its operating systems.

The Artificial Intelligence update is explicitly for the iPhone 15 Pro and current-generation models, iPad OS and Macs with the M1 chip or later, and the newest version, the iPad Mini.

" For users new or upgrading to macOS 18.3, Apple Intelligence will be enabled automatically during Mac onboarding. Users will have access to Apple Intelligence features after setting up their devices. To disable Apple Intelligence, users must navigate the Apple Intelligence & Siri Settings pane and turn off the Apple Intelligence toggle. This will disable Apple Intelligence features on their device."

To clarify Apple's written notes, users can turn off Apple Intelligence features, including Al notification summaries, Image Playground, and auto-correction text tools on their devices. Disabling Apple Intelligence is simple: go to Apple Intelligence and Siri settings and turn the Apple Intelligence toggle off.

Including Apple Intelligence by default in iOS 18.3 represents a significant step towards integrating AI more deeply into the Apple ecosystem. While it offers numerous benefits, users can opt-out for a more traditional experience.
