According to Reports The iPhone 15 Could Have The USB-C Charging Port
Apple may finally switch to the USB-C charging port. Well, that's according to a Bloomberg report. A supply chain analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo has shared evidence that directly shows Apple replacing its Lightning port with the universal USB-C connectivity. Furthermore, Bloomberg adds that Apple is in the process of testing an iPhone design with USB-C.
The Lightning port was first introduced with the iPhone 5 circa 2012, replacing the unmanageable 30-pin connector with a smaller reversible plug. Ten years later, the upcoming iPhone 14 is still expected to have Lightning connectivity.
Other devices such as the iPad lineup and MacBook product line have moved from Lightning to USB-C charge connectivity for five years now.
As stated earlier in the post, Bloomberg is reporting Apple is in the process of internally testing an iPhone design with USB-C; the expected change won't take place until next year. Apple will likely reveal the new iPhone 15 lineup in the Fall of 2023.
USB-C has several beneficial factors: faster transfer speed, higher power delivery, and quicker charge under the same voltage. Apple is also rumored to boost Lightning data transfer rates to the USB 3.0, starting with the iPhone 14 this Fall.
