Here's What You Need Know About The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL

Samsung Note 10, then we have Apple who just unleashed their iPhone 11 a few weeks back, now it's Google turn to raise the curtains and reveal their new smartphone. Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel XL. Lot of features and specs to cover in this post. So with that said, here's what you need to know about Google's newest flagship smartphone.

First Off We Have The Hardware

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is processing power is made possible by the latest Qualcomm 855 SnapDragon processor integrated in most Android base smartphones. Interestingly, you finally have a Google Pixel smartphone who's memory exceeds past 4GB, having 6GB of RAM that should boost overall performance. On the storage front, consumers have two storage options, 64GB and 128GB.

That 90Hz Display

The Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch QHD+ display that has a 19:9 aspect ratio, and a 537 PPI. While the Pixel 4 has 5.7-inch, a 19:9 aspect ratio, and a 444 PPI. Beautiful bright displays indeed. But here's where it all gets interesting, both the Pixel 4 and 4 XL is now one of the few smartphones on the market to have a 90Hz refresh rate. Consumers can now enjoy smoother scrolling and animation. According to Display Mate (an actual website that examine displays on all devices), the display has garnished an A+ rating.

Then There’s The Camera

Aside from the display, probably the most significant upgrade is the camera. Known for having just one rear camera, the Pixel 4 now has two. The primary camera is a 16 MP telephoto sensor with a 52- degree field of view, optical and electronic image stabilization, and also having auto-focus with Dual Pixel phase detection. Then there's the 12.2 MP wide-angle sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, 77-degree field of view, optical and electronic image stabilization, and auto-focus with dual pixel phase detection.

Having two cameras on the new Pixel 4 is a big deal, well, somewhat. This smartphone doesn't have the one thing needed to take those wide area shots, and that's an Ultra-wide camera, but why? The execs at Google states that its main feature focus is its new telephoto lens combined with its Super Res Zoom software giving a quote: “exceptional image quality from a distance " unquote.

Turn the Pixel 4 around to the front; there's an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and 90-degrees field of view.

For me the most standout feature with Pixel 4 camera is Night Sight, which offers users the ability to capture twilight images that include stars and even the milky-way. I've seen sample images posted on the web using Night Sight — one word in description, stunning.

Google greater emphasis on the camera software is evident when the company referred to Pixel 4 as being a " software-defined camera," noting that the Neural Core feature powers motion tracking, adjust the exposure, and focus.

To sum it up, the Pixel 4 have the potential to once again reign supreme as being the best smartphone camera on the market.

Other Features To Note

Google introduces gesture control with Motion Sense to Pixel 4 product line. A miniature radar sensor embedded into both the Pixel 4 and 4 XL detecting movement around the smartphone. Sensing when any users are reaching for their device initiating face unlock. Or, it will shut down the phone's display when no user is nearby. There's also the New Quick Gestures feature, which lets you skip songs when the phone is not in your hands. Just wave a hand over the device snoozes your alarms, disable timers and even silence your ringer.

Price and Availability

Pricing for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL goes as follows; $799 for the 64GB Pixel 4, $899 for the 128GB. The Pixel 4 XL 64GB model will run you $899, and breaking the $1000 barrier is the 128GB variant, the exact cost will is $999.

Google now broaden their carrier lineup that includes T-mobile, Verizon, US Cellular and my carrier of choice AT&T. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL is now available for pre-order. Shipping will Commence on October 24th.

Quick note : another big change to the Pixel 4 lineup is the overall body now has a IP 68 protection rating that’s resistant to both dust/ water up to 1.5m ( 5 feet) for 30 mins.
