We Have a Gigabyte Aorus TRX40 3rd Gen AMD Threadripper Motherboard Sighting

Ah leaks, you got to love them when it entails anything tech. The latest such leaks that caught my attention is a mysterious motherboard from Gigabyte posted on the Internet. According to reports, this motherboard carries an Auros branding. If you take a close look at the image, notice the symbol next to the socket, which further speculates that this motherboard explicitly is made for AMD's upcoming third-generation Ryzen Threadripper processor, that's set to launch next month.

Of course, when you have leaks of this magnitude take place, details are going to be vague. But if you examine the CPU socket, it looks very similar to AMD's TR4 socket that already exists on the market found on the current generation motherboards — further heightening rumors and speculation. Most PC enthusiasts who viewed this image are almost sure this is a Gigabyte Aorus TRX40 motherboard is based on the upcoming TR4+ socket design.

Not precisely clear if TR4+ will differ from the TR4, but according to rumor, the CPU pins will be a little different. As of now, we don't have confirmation from Gigabyte, so all we have at this time are leaks and speculative rumors. But if you follow this website, you'll know I've stated on numerous occasions product leaks are orchestrated by the company to boost consumer anticipation, which explains why product leaks turn out to be accurate upon launch.

Let's move our focus away from the CPU socket and look at the rest of the motherboard. It appears to be an extended ATX ( or E-ATX) motherboard, the same form factor as the X399 Aorus Xtreme. Notice the four reinforced PCI Express x16 slots between three covered M.2 ports, and eight DDR4 DIMM slots made specifically for quad-channel memory support. Yes, we also have the over the top RGB lighting.

One legit confirmation is from AMD, who plan to formally introduce its third-generation Threadripper lineup, which will take place in November, the product headlining the event will be a 24-core/48-thread processor.

Even more rumors, three models will be introduced in November, the Threadripper 3990X 48 cores, or 64 cores and 128 threads, Threadripper 3970X 32 cores, and 64 threads, Threadripper 3960X 24 core, and 48 threads.

How accurate are these rumors and leaks remains to be seen. But if there’s some legitimacy to the leaked information, the Threadripper 3960X and Threadripper 3970X will make it market debut on November 19th, the Threadripper 3990X will be launched in January 2020.
