Sony? We have a glaring problem with your PS5

By now, excitement over last week's PS5 launch has subsided. But we're already getting reports from users having varying issues with their brand new consoles. The fault seemingly is attributed to random software crashing that's not linked to one particular game or even hardware. Making it even more of a challenge trying to pinpoint the primary issue.

The plaguing issue that's widely being reported by PS5 owners is sudden drops in performance during gameplay. Some users are saying their consoles are freezing or, without any warning shutting down entirely. The problem with the PS5 console seemingly involves games, or bundled games, Astros playroom.

Now Sony has not yet issued an official statement on how to remedy these issues. According to reports, users have voiced their complaints on Sony's official PlayStation support Twitter page, the company have offered support via direct messaging.

It gets even worse; as reported by a web publication, Push Square, users say that their PS5 required a complete database rebuild following software corruption. Staff members at Push Square attempted to play a PS4 game from external storage, but the system would suddenly shut down and reboot, requiring a database rebuild.

One user took to Reddit and stated that the issue was resolved by simply restarting the system after a series of rebuilds exceeding up to 45 minutes.

Then there is the issue with rest mode. Jeff Gerstman, the Co-founder of Giant Bomb, stated that while Spiderman Remastered is running when put into rest mode, the entire system will crash. When booting up the PS5, users must engage in a total rebuild of the database.

Update!! Sony releases a new patch update for the PS5

Well, what do you know, right before publishing this article, newsflash, Sony has just released a new and first software update for the PS5, with no added informative patch notes. There is no detailed information on whether it addresses the list of issues mentioned in the post. The update was rolled out last night( Monday); interestingly, it requires an 868 MB download. The update will only make unspecified system improvements regarding performance. Nonetheless, the update will make some form of improvements to the overall system.

When Sony decides to clarify what the software update does to the PS5, I will post an update via social media.
