If plan on an in-store purchase of the PS5 you're f**ked
Many would-be gamers were gravelly disappointed when they couldn't reserve their PS5 due to high demand, causing a supply shortage. Even worse, you had several scalper bots who purchased mass quantities of consoles from resellers to make a profit on eBay, further depleting the supply chain.
“No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12th or November 19th, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.”
So here's even more bad news, if you plan on purchasing a PS5 disc and digital model directly in person from a store, that's not happening. Sony confirmed in their latest blog post and explained that the primary focus would be online purchases for the PlayStation 5 before the launch date, which is Nov 12th. So if you missed out on the previous pre-orders, then more than likely you have to wait a long time for Sony's next-generation console, which could exceed well past the holidays.
Now, if by chance you secured your online order, your console should be sitting in the store ready for consumer pickup on launch day. My advice is to call your local retailer ( Best Buy, Target, GameStop) and inquire about in-store pickup policies. Good luck.
