What You Need To Know About The New 12.9-inch iPad Pro

In 2018, Apple launched the iPad Pro. In my opinion, the tablet is one of the best mobile devices in their entire product line. The iPad Pro offers consumers everything you can ask for in a near-perfect tablet. It has a sleek, simplistic design and performs well due in part to its impeccable embedded hardware. And a stunning display that offers crisp and sharp visuals. Yes, the tablet is all that and then some.

So what does Apple do for an encore? Launch a new iPad Pro, of course. From my perspective, the tablet is a slight improvement from its predecessor. With that said, here’s everything you need to know about the features and hardware in the new iPad Pro the 2020 edition.

Nuts and Bolts of It All, The Processor

The core engine that makes it all happen with the iPad Pro is the A12Z Bionic chip with 64_bit architecture. It includes a Neural Engine along with an embedded M12 coprocessor. The Geekbench scores that’s posted on the Internet are impressive, 1114 single-core score, 4654 Multi-Core Score. Based on what I viewed online via YouTube, I would say the tablet performs almost on par with a high-end laptop. The animation appears to be very fluid and smooth. Accessing apps via the touch screen is, as I like to describe it, lightning fast.

The Display Is The Most Impressive Feature

The edge to edge liquid crystal Retina display by far is the most impressive feature on the iPad Pro. The 12.9 inches (diagonal) LED-backlit display is implemented with the latest IPS technology, packing an astounding 2732 x 2048 pixel resolution, at 264 pixels per inch ( PPI). The display brightness level measures in at an eye-popping 600 nits. To sum up, in short, the display is brightly crisp.

There are a couple of features within the display that has sparked my interest. That is ProMotion Technology, which provides refresh rates up to 120Hz, giving you more fluid scrolling, excellent responsiveness, and much smoother motion content. Then there’s True Tone display technology that features sensors that measure ambient light color and brightness.

On The Storage and Memory Front

Even though Apple have disclosed RAM capacity on its website, several reputable publications have confirmed the new iPad Pro has 6GB of memory. Odd considering Apple's top-end smartphone is still rocking 4GB of RAM, which is below market standards in comparison to their Android counterparts. But keep in mind iOS operates differently on mobile devices compared the Android. The mobile OS is not a resource hog on the hardware. The storage capacity that’s being offered to consumers remains the same, at minimum, you get 128GB, up to 1TB of storage.

The iPad Pro Camera

I still think it's rather strange using a tablet to take pictures. The thought of holding a 12.9-inch tablet so you can visually capture the moment is cringe-worthy. With that said, the camera specs on the new iPad Pro are pretty impressive. You have two rear cameras, a 12MP wide f/1.8 and 10 MP ultra-wide f/2.4. You get a 7MP front-facing camera, which will benefit those who frequent Face Time.
