Today Samsung unveils the new T7 portable SSD, introduced this past January at CES 2020. The T7 SSD is the successor to the ultra-slim variant, the T5 USB-C SSD, launched in 2017. What's different about this particular version it does not feature the fingerprint sensor found on the T7 Touch, which is a few dollar$ more in price.

Though T7 does not have the fingerprint sensor as an option, users can utilize an AES 256-bit encryption. The 500GB base model will come at a $110 price point, while the 1TB model will cost $200, and the 2TB SSD will run you $370. The T7 will come in various color schemes, metallic red, indigo blue, and titan gray, included is a USB-C to USB-C cable and USB-C to USB Type-A cable in the package. The SSD is compatible with several operating systems, including Windows 10, macOS, and Android.

The difference between the T5 and T7 is speed. The latter is much faster due to an upgrade to NVMe technology. Samsung has made claims of the storage drive having a 1,050MB/s transfer speeds.

The external SSDs have come a long way. They're much slimmer and faster by the year. I can't wait to get my hands on the T7 portable SSD. Anyhow, head over to Samsung’s website and place your order.
