What You Need To Know About Intel's New 10th Gen Core Desktop Processor
Topic: Unveiled Hardware
A few days ago, Intel announced the new lineup of their 10th generation Core "Comet Lake " desktop processor. The new processor puts greater emphasis on core speed, more processing cores, and added threads. While at the same time, offering low prices in comparison to previous-gen CPUs.
There's so much viable information I need to unleash to you readers. This information can, of course, be helpful if, by chance, you decide to purchase this processor. With that said, here's what you need to know.
Let us start with the core speed of the Core i9-10900K, which is up to an astounding 5.3GHz. Even more impressive is its 10-cores, with 20-threads. By far, the fastest single-core clock speed processor Intel has ever produced. Mainly because there is the technology behind the processor insane speed, call the Thermal Velocity technology. Which enables temporary high performance on top Turbo Boost technology, automatically increasing the processors clock frequency. The processor will also have a much faster DDR4-2933 support, Intel Turbo Boost Max technology 3.0, and enhanced overclocking features.
Let's outline in depth some of the other features in the new 10th Gen Core i9 CPU, which now uses entirely new chip set, the 400 series. It will also include 2.5G Intel" Ethernet connection with Foxville support, and a Integrated Intel WiFi 6 AX201 Gig+ support using CNV.
As expected, the 10th Gen processor will have a new socket (LGA 1200), along with new motherboards, Z490, H470, and B460. Vendors are already in the process of announcing product release dates and pricing for these motherboards.
Aside from the added speed and cores, the interaction between the CPU die and integrated heat spreader (IHS) has changed. Intel has implemented a Thin Die STIM (solder thermal interface material) and thicker IHS, which according to Intel, will overall improve thermal performance. Though the processor has much improved thermal technology, if you plan on overclocking you will still need a decent aftermarket CPU cooler.
According to reports, the 10th Gen Intel processor will hit the market in May, which is this month. As of now, there is no specific target date from Intel. The pricing goes as follows, the Core i9-10900K will retail for $488, $472 for Core i9-10900KF, $439 for the Core i9-10900, and $422 for Core i9-10900F.
