Microsoft Unveils a New Microsoft Surface Go2, Smaller in Size, better processor, bigger display
Topic: Microsoft Devices
Thus far, this has been somewhat of a big week of product releases and announcements from Google, Apple, and now Microsoft, which has just unveiled its smallest tablet in its Surface tablet product line, the Surface Go 2. The most significant change is the display, slightly bigger, measuring 10.5 inches, up from a 10-inch panel from the original iteration. The size of the Surface Go 2 stays the same, but you'll notice the bezel reduced ever so slightly.
The display, though bigger, means increased 1920 x 1280 resolution (220 PPI), a maintaining 3.2 aspect ratio. Probably the most significant upgrade is to the internal hardware. The base model will carry an Intel Pentium Gold processor retailing for $399.99. There will also be a new 8th generation Core m3 variant. Microsoft is claiming a performance increase by 64-percent on the Surface Go 2 Core m3 CPU option.
The Surface Go 2 specs go as follows; 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, Core m3 model, priced at $629, it will have 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. There will also be an 8GB RAM 128GB SSD model with the Pentium Gold Processor retail price at $549. Like all the Surface Pro product line, the Surface Go Type Covers will be sold separately, for $99.
The current Surface Go Type Covers and accessories currently on the market will still function with the Surface Go 2, with the same dimensions and placed ports. It will include a single USB-C port, the Surface Connect port for charging and docking, and the microSDXC card reader. Interestingly, Microsoft adds studio mics to the Surface Go2, which should boost improvements to audio and video conferencing calls.
At launch, there will also be LTE versions of Surface GO2. As you know, LTE uses a cellular network that you likely have to pay a fee. The retail price will go for $729 for the Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of SSD storage. The Business model will have a Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage retailing for $879.
The Surface Go2 will make its market availability on May 12th.
