It seems when Apple releases its new mobile OS, users, as usual, share their displeasure's on a wide scale via social media, regarding software bugs. The latest glitch? User's inability to set mail and web browser applications as a default third-party alternative. Here's the issue, once you reboot your iPhone, it reverts to Apple's default apps. We have this statement from Apple; it goes as follows;

"We are aware of an issue that can impact default email and browser settings in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. A fix will be available to users in a software update."

You'll likely see this issue get rectified in the next software update. One thing about Apple, they are exceptional when it comes to addressing software glitches.

Until Apple address this problematic issue, my suggestion too users is not to reboot their smartphones. An unlikely task since users may have to shut their device off entirely due to low-battery life.

Currently, in iOS14, apps such as Chrome, DuckDuckGo, and Firefox can be set as default browsers, while mail apps such as Spark and Microsoft Outlook can also be set as default. No, if you're not a fan of Safari or Apple's native mail app can option an alternative and open automatically, provided that you don't have to reboot your device.

Periodically check for the latest software patch from Apple.
