Here's My Take On The Chipolo One Tracker (The Review)

The Chipolo ONE is the second key tractor I've purchased, the first being Tile. Based on my personal experience, I'd say the ONE edges out Tile in more ways than none. Others might have a different opinion on the device, which is fine. But this review is based solely on a consumer perspective. Because I did purchase the ONE as a need over necessity, with that said, here are my thoughts on the Chipolo ONE key tractor.

Design

The ONE is slightly smaller and thinner than Tile, with a circular design measuring 1.5 inches in diameter.

Aesthetically, nothing stands out to me in regards to its simplistic design. It's round, with the Chipolo logo stamped on one side. The materials used on this tracker are plastic, with mines having a yellow color scheme. The ONE boasts a built-in keyring that you can seamlessly attach to any set of keys; you can also connect it to a pet collar or insert it inside a backpack or wallet.

Functionality and Features

For the Chipolo ONE to function, you must first download the app from its respective app store, Android and iOS. You then connect the Chipolo ONE to your smartphone via Bluetooth connection. It worth noting, you have to sign up for a Chipolo account first. Once done, activate location services on your smartphone.

The setting up the ONE was very intuitive; on my end, I had no issues whatsoever. Moreover, the whole process took no longer than 5-minutes.

Features on Chipolo ONE are pretty impressive. There are Out-of-range alerts that send a notification to your smartphone along with a loud ring tone when the ONE loses connection with the smartphone. On your smartphone via the app, you can mark items attached to Chipolo as lost. The last location of the item will be displayed in real-time on Google Maps.

The test

Any gadgets that cross my path are tested before it gets a seal of approval from yours truly. The Chipolo ONE has been in my possession for a week; I must say, I'm impressed with its functionality. I purposefully left my keys at the Tekspecz lab, and within minutes, the app alerted me with a series of notifications, along with a vibrating loud ring tone, yes, that audible ring tone. You also can use the Chipolo ONE to find your misplaced smartphone by applying two taps on the ONE. I tested this feature by burying my smartphone in my clothes basket. Again, with two taps on the ONE, my smartphone gave off a distinctive ringtone. And of course, I quickly located my smartphone.

The Chipolo ONE has an iPX5 rating which can withstand tiny droplets of water. I sprayed water on the ONE three times from a water bottle. The device survived the water test with no known issues. Just don't go submerging the ONE in water. You will indeed render the device inoperable.

Final Thoughts

I'm a say this. If you're an Android user, I will purchase the Chipolo ONE over Tile. In my experience using both devices, the ONE has more valuable features, and, importantly, tracking is more responsive. For iPhone users, the ONE is a cheaper option than Airtag. Surprisingly, according to published reports, both are on par with each other in regards to functionality. So yes, purchase the Chipolo ONE. I highly recommend it.
