Everything You Need Know About The New iPhone 13 Pro
Oh, we knew Apple was going to hold a significant event this week. Whether or not Apple was going to unveil the new iPhone 13 was the question. But really, there was no doubt Apple was going to reveal their next-gen flagship smartphone. There were, of course, the rumors, leaks, and renders posted on the web for months leading up to this event. So now it's here, the iPhone 13, ready for purchase by would-be consumers. Here's everything you need to know.
Noted: for this post, we will profile the iPhone 13 Pro.
Design
As expected, Apple didn't make any drastic changes to the design of the iPhone 13 Pro design. I would say more like refined it with a few tweaks. The latest iteration retains the squared-off edges and large square camera module found on the previous-gen model. I'd say leaving things as is a good thing as I'm enamored with the overall design.
Yes, there is a notch, though slightly smaller, making for a more immersive edge-to-edge display. The iPhone 13 Pro will come in four color schemes, including an all-new Sierra Blue. All four smartphones will have a stainless steel frame. The camera module on the iPhone 13 Pro is much bigger, with enough room to hold a larger camera sensor ( we’ll address the camera later on in this post).
It's also worth noting the iPhone 13 Pro, as with the other models, will have iP68 protection.
Hardware
Much like what you have with PCs, Apple follows the same script yearly, upgrading the processor. The iPhone 13 Pro gets an improved processor, with all four models now have Apple's A15 Bionic chip. The new processor is now based on the 5nm process. So now you have an even more powerful and efficient chip. In total, there are 6-cores, two high-performance cores, and four high-efficiency cores.
Regarding storage, Apple has altogether ditched the 64GB storage option; base models will start at 128GB, up to 1TB.
Display
Arguably the most significant upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro is the display. Welcome to the wonderful world of high refresh rates, something Android users have enjoyed for a few years now. At a 120Hz refresh rate, future owners will now view a much responsive, smoother animation when engaging in software. Unfortunately, despite all the rumors, there will be no Touch ID sensor on display.
The Camera
By far, the iPhone 12 was the best camera Apple has produced to date. It has a much larger sensor offering high performance in low light conditions. Now you'll have the same camera in the iPhone 13 product line, with even better image stabilization. In addition, the iPhone 13 Pro variants will have a much-improved 6element ultrawide camera featuring an f/1.8 aperture. According to Apple, this will guarantee better performance in low-light environments. Also, the camera can now capture macro images without the need for a macro camera. The iPhone 13 Pro models telephoto camera now has up to 3x optical zoom, for a total of 6x zoom range if you include the ultrawide camera.
Date of Release and Price
The iPhone 13 Pro will cost $999, and iPhone 13 Max Pro will be $1,099. Pre-orders for all the iPhone 13 variants will start on Friday, September 17; sales will begin on September 24.
