What we know about Microsoft potential Acquisition of Activision for $68 Billion
Earlier this week, news broke Microsoft's plan to acquire Activision Blizzard for a significant amount of money for $68.7 billion. Potentially this will turn Microsoft into a worldwide gaming conglomerate. Additionally, this deal will give Microsoft the sole rights to some of the most popular gaming franchises of all time, Call of Duty, Warcraft, Overmatch, and much more.
The acquisition expands Microsoft studios, alongside Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios. Also included in the deal is King studios, the creators of the ever-so-popular Candy Crush, becoming significant players in the mobile gaming space.
Antitrust issues always come up when mega giants like Microsoft want to acquire companies evolving large sums of assets. Which why it will take 12 months to finalize this deal. Activision Blizzards have negatively made news in recent months. There have been several sexual harassment claims, resulting in a lawsuit filed on behalf of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The Microsoft acquisition will defuse workplace toxicity and make adjustments to leadership.
