I want to talk about a AMD high-end motherboard that's caught my attention, Asus X670E

It's been confirmed that AMD is expected to release the new Ryzen 7000 CPUs on September 15th. What's significant about this processor series is it will have the next Gen features, which will include the AM5 platform. The successor to the long-used AM4 platform.

The AM5 platform is quite interesting; it will introduce a brand new LGA 1718 CPU socket, replacing the PGA (an acronym for Pin Grid Array) setup. Land Grid Array (LGA) is similar to Intel's existing desktop CPUs. However, enhanced features include a new Gen PCIe 5.0, DDR5, and more. In addition, the socket will have a single latch that will make it easy to insert the processor without damaging the pins underneath.

Upon announcing the new X670E design, motherboard manufacturers such as Asus did not mention overclocking or memory support. However, a full announcement is expected to occur in the coming weeks, August 29th.

Now that we have addressed X670E and its features let's talk about what Asus has unveiled. The following motherboards are the high-end ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme and ROG Crosshair X670E Hero motherboards. The ROG Crosshair motherboards, in particular, will feature 20+2 phases for the Extreme edition and 18+2 phases for the HERO. In addition, both motherboard variants will store 110A Power Stage within a Teamed design. Asus states extra high-end power is needed to overclock components such as the CPU.

Other highlighted features on this motherboard include WiFi 6E(AX210), 10 GbE Marvell AQC113CS connectors, Gen 5.0 PCIe x16, and M.2, USB 4, and Quick Charge 4 + ports. In addition, motherboards such as MSI, ASRock, and Gigabyte will also feature X670E technology prepping for AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPUs.
