Here everything you need know about Apple's iPhone 14 Pro from my perspective
At this year's annual Fall event, Apple officially unveiled the Phone 14 Series smartphone (iPhone 14, Plus, Pro, and Max). We'll examine the hardware, new software features, and camera. We'll explicitly profile the iPhone 14 Pro because I feel that most consumers will purchase this model. With that said, here's everything you know about Apple's newest handheld flagship.
The new A16 BIONIC chip
As expected, the new iPhone 14 Pro gets a CPU upgrade, the A16 Bionic SoC. It consists of 16 billion transistors constructed on a 4-nanometer process with 6-CPU cores. In addition, a 5-core GPU has 50% more bandwidth. The chip die is just a 5-nanometers, offering efficiency and minimal power consumption. The Neural Engine can handle 17 trillion operations per second, the primary component for computational photography.
Much Brighter Display
The iPhone 14 Pro has a much brighter OLED display at 1,600 nits, peak brightness topping out at 2000 nits, and up to 2556 x 1179 resolution. In addition, the 120 Hz refresh rate can go as low as 1Hz, enabling a new Low Power mode feature. A first from Apple is Always Display, which lets users view the wallpaper, the time, and iOS 16 lock screen Widgets.
There is the camera upgrade
The iPhone 14 Pro camera has undoubtedly gone through a noticeable upgrade. For starters, Apple states the new 48MP camera will capture detailed images and deliver much improved low-light photography. The ultrawide and telephoto camera will also have enhanced low-light photography. The overall performance is 2x greater than the last Gen iPhone 13, partly due to Apple's new Photonic Engine. In addition, the camera can now use ProRAW uncompressed 48-megapixel photos, enabling more editing for adjusting white balance and tone mapping.
You have 4K resolution on the video front, up to 40 frames per second in Cinematic mode. In addition, you can use the new Action mode feature for refining video stabilization.
The Dynamic Island feature
Dynamic Island is arguably the most impressive feature on the iPhone 14 Pro. Situated around the camera cutout ( yes, the notch is no more), it shifts in size and shape while blending itself directly into the UI. The pill-shaped cutout pixels expand according to the task at hand.
For example, Dynamic Island expands into a square shape when an Apple Pay payment is made via Face ID confirmation. If you are on the phone, it grows larger so the user can access controls front and center.
Other Dynamic Island tools are expanded rectangles displaying Maps directions without opening the Maps app. In addition, the island can display music waveform and time remaining on the song that's playing, tracking the arrival time of Lyft.
To sum up, with Dynamic Island, you have a more nifty version of Androids drop-down notification.
Pricing and full release date
The iPhone 14 Pro surprisingly retains its $999 start price and $1,099; by the time this post is published, pre-orders for the iPhone 14 have already begun ( Sept 9th). A full release will take place on Sept 16th
