Let's talk about Logitech's new $70 webcams

Once a novelty peripheral, the webcam has been and still is the most sort after device on the market, and with good reason. Since the inception of the pandemic, many are now remotely working from home. The webcam has become a required tool to engage with employees and clients via Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Even though the market is saturated with webcams from various companies, for most consumers, the personal preference is Logitech.

So when Logitech unveiled their new Brio 300 Series webcams, many like myself who own several of their products took notice.

The Brio 300 series brand consists of two models: the Brio 300, the consumer variant webcam, and the Brio 305 model, the enterprise variant tailored for the corporate user. Both webcams feature high dynamic contrast, auto light correction for poorly lit environments, a noise reduction digital microphone, and a rotating privacy shutter primarily used to block the lens.

Regarding the actual camera, both webcams support full HD 1080p at up to 30fps and 720p at 60fps. The diagonal field of view measures 70 degrees enabling users to perch on any model laptop. In addition, the hardware has 1x digital zoom with a fixed type.

The Brio 300 computer connectivity is via USB-C, and of course, like most PC peripherals, it's plug-and-play. Regarding design, the Brio Series 300 webcam has an abstract cone-shaped design with an assortment of colors, Rose, Off-White, or Graphite.

The Logitech Brio 300 and Brio 305is are now available globally, and as a reminder, the retail price is $69.99.
