Twitter is currently working on increasing the limit of Characters
We usually don't cover news that entails social media platforms. But when news broke, Twitter Blue subscribers could increase the length of their posts. I’m a staunch user of Twitter, so this piqued my interest.
According to a Tweet by Twitter, at first glance, Twitter Blue accounts will appear to be regular Tweets. But once users click on the "Show more" option, located at the bottom right, they are now allowed an additional 1,200+ characters. Furthermore, the Tweet extension feature is exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers.
Many oppose the extended Tweet option. One user states Twitter would now be a " complete rebrand to Facebook. " I'm in the majority who welcome the idea. I'm an avid Twitter user with a lot of say regarding the subject matter.
Tweets will have the same standard function. Users can still upload images, use hashtags, create a poll, and schedule the Tweet to be posted later. Longer Tweets are capped at 280 characters on a single timeline. To read the rest of the Tweet, as an option, click on " Show more."
Additional announcements by Twitter on its Blue support page stated that anyone who opts to pay the $8 monthly fee for a Blue subscription would see a reduction in ads. In addition, Elon Musk, the current CEO of Twitter, has hinted at a more pricey subscription package that will eliminate all ads.
Longer Tweets is tailor-made for bloggers like me who post snippets of articles from the website. Twitter Blue recently added a feature allowing users to post 60-minute videos. A heavily requested feature from content creators.
I can only speak for myself; extending more characters would be worth it. However, I'm curious how many Twitter users take full advantage of this new feature.
