Hardware Breakdown Presents : Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra Laptop
In my opinion, the laptop Samsung is showcasing is one of the best in the market. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra has impeccable hardware. Even though Samsung's consumer target with this laptop is the consummate professionals, the Galaxy Book3 Ultra is more than capable of handling the rigors of gaming.
In this monthly installment of Hardware Breakdown, we'll examine the integral components inside the Galaxy Book3 Ultra.
The processors
Probably the standout components in the Galaxy Book3 Ultra are the processors. As an option, consumers can either go with the 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1300H or the Core i9-13900H. However, what's so impressive about the Galaxy Book3 Ultra is its graphical power that comes with the discrete GPU. It's embedded with the latest Gen Nvidia RTX 4000 series ( RTX 4050 6GB VRAM and RTX 4070 8GB VRAM ). One of the few laptops on the market with this GPU from Nvidia. Regarding potential performance from this GPU, this particular laptop should be faster than Apple's latest MacBook Pro 16, which has the new M2 Max chipset.
The RAM
It's pretty standard for top-end laptops to have an abundance amount t of RAM, which the Book3 Ultra does have, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Now I haven't come across any information on frequency speed. My educated guess is it's in the range of 3200 to 3500 MHz.
The Storage
Regarding storage, the Galaxy Book3 Ultra uses the PCie 4.0 NVMe SSD, with up to 1TB. Interestingly, the laptop has an additional M. 2 SSD slot for users who want to expand their storage.
The Display
With its vivid, bright displays on its mobile devices, Samsung is miles ahead of the competition. The Book3 Ultra certainly does not disappoint. It has a large 16-inch AMOLED display with a 3K 2880 x 1800 resolution and a 16:10 ratio. The laptop uses the same adaptive refresh rate feature found in the latest Galaxy S series smartphones; the variable refresh rate goes from 48-120Hz. The peak brightness of this display maxes out at 500 nits.
Final Thoughts
Call it a gaming laptop or mobile workstation. Either way, the Galaxy Book3 Ultra is one of the most powerful laptops on the market. The RTX 40 series alone makes this a formidable gaming laptop. I'm interested in how the GalaxyBook3 Ultra handles visually intensive gaming titles. Will it do well in benchmark tests? We shall see.
