Framework piqued everyone's interest when they revealed a 16-inch modular laptop in March without giving full details on price or component specification. However, we have details of hardware specs and confirmation of preorders that will arrive globally. It will include the following countries, US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Australia, Ireland, France, Germany, and Austria.


The revealed specs in Framework's Laptop 16 are the current generation AMD Ryzen and Radeon GPUs. In addition, the Framework Laptop 16 is fully customizable and upgradable, which can't be achieved with any laptop currently on the market.

Base models will start with a Ryzen 7 7840HS processor with a 5.1 GHz boost frequency. You can use the more powerful Ryzen 7940HS ( 5.2 GHz boost frequency) processor as an option. It's worth noting the Laptop will include a Radeon 780M onboard graphics card. Framework will provide a Graphic Module that slots into the Laptop's 16 expansion bay upon purchase. The Graphics Module will be the Radeon RX 7700S, with 8GB of GDDR6 and a max TGP of 100 watts. Regarding other future Graphics Module upgrades, Framework has not provided any information. There will be support for up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory and dual M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs.

The overall structure of the Laptop is made out of magnesium alloy combined with aluminum, weighing just 5.3 pounds. Other notable features include a 16-inch QHD + display with a 165Hz refresh rate, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, and a brightness rating measuring 500 nits. There are four audio speakers present on this device, in addition to having an 85WHr battery that will power all the mentioned hardware.

Preorder pricing will start at $1,399 for the DIY addition, and the reconfigured Ryzen 7 7840HS will be priced at $1,699.
