Hardware Breakdown always features gadgets or hardware that's potent or has the most impressive features around. This month's featured device is the laptop, the Lenovo Legion 9i. It's designed specifically with gaming in mind, with powerful top-end hardware. In addition to having specialized features, that include Legion Spectrum RGB strips. In addition to LA-2 chips, with a Smart FPS feature. It has a specialized GPU cooling setup, which we’ll cover later in this post.
With that said, a high-performing laptop's selling point is hardware. Let's outline some of the primary components inside the Legion 9i gaming laptop.
The processor
The Legion 9i is embedded with a 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13980hx processor ( Codename: Raptor Lake). Users will get up to 5.60 GHz max frequency and 36MB L3 cache. Adding to the potency of the laptop is the GPU. It has a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and a 2.3MHz boost clock.
The RAM and storage
The Legion 9I has a sizeable RAM capacity and high-frequency speed with up to 64GB of DDR5-5600. Interestingly, the 32GB model has a much higher frequency, DDR5-6400, respectively.
Regarding storage, you get up to a 2TB PCIe 4 NVMe solid-state drive.
The 16-inch display
If image quality and a high refresh are what you desire in a laptop, then the Legion 9i has you covered. The display has a high refresh rate, measuring 165MHz, in addition to having a 3ms response time, a 100% coverage of DCI-P3 and Adobe color spaces. Other features included are Nvidia's own G-Sync display technology, and a DisplayHDR 1000 certification.
The specialized cooling feature
The Legion 9i is the only laptop on the market that has a unique cooling fan that's co-engineered with Cooler Master that operates directly over the GPU. Some reports stated that cooling fans are capable of managing heat even under the extreme rigors of gaming. The fan activates when the GPU reaches 84 degrees. AI technology and triple fan cooling keep the GPU at a stable temperature range.
