Big WTF goes to New Egg for shipping RTX 3080 graphics cards without boxes
New Egg, a reputable retail vendor, is shipping EVGA RTX 3080 graphics cards without the retail packaging and causing many irate customers to air their grievances on Reddit. Even worse, some of these graphics cards aren't packaged correctly in New Egg boxes.
The RTX 3080 is the most sought-after hardware around, yet angry consumers are receiving purchases without full retail packaging; in some cases, the graphics cards are damaged.
A spokesperson from EVGA who goes by the name Jacob gave his assessment on Reddit, stating that a small number of New Egg graphics cards have shipped in bulk, which explains why they are thrown in boxes. Many of these cards are likely to be used in pre-built systems.
Consumers have the option to inform New Egg that you received incorrectly packaged cards. Since the retailer is aware of the situation, you probably won't have any further mishaps with product packaging.
If you're one of many customers who experienced this problem and want a replacement, you would have to send the RMA's original card. Due to massive card shortages, you might have to wait a while for a replacement.
