Here's why I appreciate Plug N Play technology

I can't say enough why I have an appreciation for Plug N Play technology. First off, what is Plug N Play? It describes any device that functions and is connected to a computer system. Users no longer have to manually install drivers for the device or even instruct a computer that a new device has been added.

With Plug N Play, instead of searching for and installing every single driver for specific hardware, the computer will automatically recognize that device and load drivers for the hardware if needed. The newly connected device will then operate without any issue.

Here's an example of how Plug N Play technology works. If you connect a mouse or keyboard to a USB port on a computer, it will begin to function within seconds after plugging it in. Non-plug N Play devices require users to go through several steps of installation, which include installing drivers and setting up devices before operation.

Not only does Plug N Play applies to the keyboard and mouse, graphics cards and hard drives are also Plug N Play devices. Meaning your computer will recognize it as soon as it is installed. The only difference is most eternal components require the system to be powered down before installation, while external devices can be installed with the computer still in operation.

Plug N Play technology has enabled computer users to connect a myriad of devices to a computer, such as external storage drives, webcams, Microphones, and even USB hubs. It's a technology that's least talked about, yet at the same time appreciated by many users such as myself.
