The Bug Report: Nvidia have a driver issue version 531.18
The point of updating hardware drivers is to improve the performance of that particular hardware. Unfortunately, in some cases, specific driver versions can be a detrimental problem. This leads us to Nvidia's latest dilemma, their latest driver, version 531.18, has a severe bug that causes high CPU usage after users have exited games. However, Nvidia has admitted that there is a problem; there will undoubtedly be an issued hotfix that will come in the next driver update.
The root cause of the problem is Nvidia's Display Container Service causes a 10-15 percent high CPU user after the gaming software is closed; you can observe this in Windows Task Manager. Recent Reddit posts from users theorized the driver bug is attributed to Nvidia's Game Session Telemetry Plugin version 531.18 ( NvGSTPlugin.dll).
Some Reddit users suggested manually removing NvGSTPlugin. dll would remedy the problem, but doing so comes at a risk. This may cause an unstabilized system, so I recommend not trying this method unless you know what you're doing. The best fix to this problem is to revert the 528.49 WHQL driver and wait for a hotfix update from Nvidia.
Currently, we have no timetable for the driver update from Nvidia. However, once released, we will post an alert via social media.
